SportsBrain Leadership
Jamaica's Number One AI Leader
Physicist and AI Scientist | Founder, StarApple AI
Caribbean AI Innovator of the Year | IBM Global AI Mentor
Adrian Dunkley is a Physicist and AI Scientist who has spent over 15 years building artificial intelligence that works in the real world, not just in theory. As the founder of StarApple AI, the Caribbean's First AI Company, he develops AI solutions that span fraud prevention, financial inclusion, climate resilience, education, public safety, and sport. Physics taught him how to see systems. AI gave him the tools to change them.
Born and raised in Jamaica, Adrian grew up understanding what it means to have extraordinary talent and limited access to the resources that turn talent into world-class performance. That personal understanding is at the heart of SportsBrain. He built SportsBrain because he believed that the Caribbean's athletes, among the most gifted in the world, deserved the same quality of sports science available to teams in Europe and North America.
In 2023, he launched the inaugural SportsBrain Youth Football Combine in partnership with the Game of Life Foundation, bringing AI-driven player assessment to young Jamaican footballers. The same year, he was named Caribbean AI Founder of the Year and Innovator of the Year in Jamaica. The SportsBrain program received government backing as part of Jamaica's national commitment to sports technology.
Beyond SportsBrain, Adrian serves as an IBM Global AI Mentor, a member of the Forbes Technology Council, a Board Member of CrimeStop Jamaica, and a newly appointed member of the UWI Climate Studies Group, where he integrates AI into Caribbean climate resilience modeling. He led the Jamaica Technology and Digital Alliance as President from 2022 to 2024, and continues on Jamaica's National AI Task Force.
This year, Adrian is launching 14West, a groundbreaking AI fund designed to support Caribbean researchers, developers, and entrepreneurs creating AI solutions for real Caribbean problems. Through grants, mentorship, cloud resources, and market access, 14West is building the infrastructure for Caribbean AI sovereignty.
He is also leading the LATAMC AI Playbook Initiative, a first-of-its-kind framework for Caribbean and Latin American countries, mapping over 15,000 evidence-based AI use cases across every sector to give governments and businesses a clear path to responsible AI adoption.
